Participle

Wonderful description of what a participle is.

There are two verities: past and present.

Verbs come in five forms or principle parts.  Participles make up two of those parts.

The present participle is always made by adding 'ing' to the verb

There are regular and irregular part participles.  Regular ends in 'ed' and irregular doesn't.

Participles function as parts of multi part verbs, adjectives, and nouns.

The five forms or parts of a verb are: simple present, simple past, part participle, present participle, and infinitive.
